'Fall'ing in Love

I absolutely love fall! It's my favorite season (even though Florida doesn't really get one). The clothes are cute, the weather is cooler,  and the food, I must say, is better too! Here are a few things that I am 'fall'ing for this fall season.

I love comfy sweaters! They are cute, warm and can be dressed up or down. They look great when matched with nice jeans, tall boots and tall socks. JcPenneys has a good selection this year along with Target and Khols.

One thing that make me 'unique' is that I wear plaid/flannel year round. Plaid is my favorite color! (Yes, I know it's a pattern and not a color but still :] ) Wearing a plaid or flannel shirt over a fitting dress, matched with a scarf, tights and some brown combat boots is such a CUTE outfit. I'd wear it all the time if I could! Target is currently holding my favorite plaid shirt of this season.

Being in cosmetology school and working at an Aveda salon, my toes are always covered, BUT that doesn't mean I can't wear cute socks under my boots or when I'm relaxing at home! Warm, thick socks keep my feet from hurting nearly as much as the end of the day, plus if they're cute, I'm happy!

Need I say more? :)

I love it when Starbucks brings back their Pumpkin Spice Lattes! That is when Starbucks gets my business faithfully! I go broke this time of year haha! If you have never had a Pumpkin Spice Latte, you have not lived!

Those are just a few of my favorite fall things. What are yours?

Turning a Summer Outfit into a Fall Outfit

Fall is here in all it's glory! Vibrant blue skies, crisp fall air, the sights and smells of the changing leaves. God's way of showing us the end of something wonderful always marks the beginning of something else wonderful.

The cooler weather also calls for a wardrobe change! If you're not ready to give up your favorite summer dress until next year, you could throw a cardigan over it and call it done. But if you're looking to spice things up a little, here is how I switched my summer dress to a fall dress.

I wore this dress from Old Navy on summer vacation with my family. I love it! It's so comfortable and a great, casual, every day summer dress.

Today, I paired it with some black leggings from Wal-Mart.

Then I added these grey ankle boots also from Wal-Mart.

This sweater from J. Crew gives it a whole new look!

I love the button detailing on the shoulder of this sweater.

Then I belted the sweater with this Ann Taylor belt (I tweeted about this when I got it).

And here is the finished outfit! All ready for the Autumn weather!

In what creative ways do you turn your summer outfits into fall outfits?

Fall Outerwear

Hey girls! It's getting chilly outside, and time to grab that jacket before you head out. So what's in for fall outerwear? I've noticed a few trends that will keep you warm and stylish :)

A couple trends that I saw in just about every type of outerwear:

  • Asymmetrical zippers and buttons! I've seen these everywhere. You can zip/button them diagonally, or leave them open- which I think looks just as cute! This trend is popular in blazers, leather jackets, and just about every other outerwear except for maybe denim!

  • Double breasted coats and jackets! This style is also popular in many types of outerwear, looks great on fleece/wool jackets, blazers, and raincoats. I've always loved this trendy look in menswear, so I'm excited to see even more of it in the women's' department!

Ok so let's talk about some essentials you'll want in your autumn and even winter wardrobe. There's so many outerwear styles, I just tried to categorize a few of them!

  • Blazers! Blazers aren't meant to serve as warm jackets, but since they work so well with fall outfits I felt it would be wrong to exclude them! A lot of blazers are dressy, but can easily be pulled off in a more casual outfit. Other blazers are a little more casual and will go with just about anything. I love the look of a collared or plaid shirt under a blazer with the sleeves cuffed! There are so many ways to wear them and spice up boring outfits, definitely a fall staple!

  • Wool/Fleece Jackets and Coats! You've seen this style for quite a long time, so no worries, your peacoat is still trendy! This is more of a warmer type of outerwear, but there are lighter jackets for milder fall weather (think fleece and NorthFace). Like I said, double breasted button-downs are very popular, and so are colorful peacoats like this pink one from Old Navy.

  • Bombers Jackets! I absolutely love this very cool, almost edgy trend in jackets. Some are  military like, some punk rock-ish, and even others almost look like letter jackets. It's a hard look to describe and there are many interpretations, so just check out the racks. You'll definitely see them!
  • Leather/Pleather! This trend would go along with bomber jackets because so many of the bombers are leather, or at least imitation leather :P. If leather ever used to seem out-dated or trashy, this new trend has totally changed all of that! There are so many cute styles that are using leather. Anyone can pull off this trend, even if you're not the hardest rocker on the block!

  • Trench/Rain Coats. Hard to think of a better title for this trend. This includes a lot of styles, but a commonality is the belt at the waist. Whether the jacket is long or normal length, it's flattering to your waste line and can be worn with many outfits. Longer jackets look great with jeans and tall boots!

  • Denim Jackets! What says fall more than that classic jean jacket? These are very popular in stores and are super cute whether you get them in a light, medium, or dark wash. If you're feeling stylin', pop that collar, and don't be afraid to try denim on denim (with different washes), that's totally in this season!

There's so much more outerwear, but that'll have to wrap up this post! Happy shopping, and stay warm!

Here's What's in for Fall Fashion...

Fall is creeping up on us, and with it are new trends and warmer clothes.  I absolutely love the trends for this season!  Ok, I say that every season, but it’s true! Here's what's in for fall fashion...

Jeans

Printed jeans/jeggings are really popular this season.  For regular jeans, boot cut, straight, and skinny are what I've seen the most of. (The jeans and jeggings are from American Eagle.)

I think these jeggings are super cute!  Tribal print is on a lot of stuff this year; not just jeans!

Colored jeans are still popular, but I see it paired with a neutral top most of the time now.  You could still wear it with a colorful top though because color blocking is still in!

Tops & Jackets
Sweaters and cardigans are back!  It's all about warm and cozy sweaters this season.  (The first sweater is from American Eagle, the next two are from Forever 21, and the last two are from J. Crew.)

I've seen a lot of people doing this where they wear a collared shirt under their sweater, and I think it's super cute!!!

Chambray shirts have been in for a while, but a lot more people have been wearing them this season.  The first shirt is from American Eagle and the second one is from GAP.

This is sort of similar to collars, but neck ties on shirts have been getting more popular recently.  (The shirt is from Forever 21.)

Sheer shirts are also back!  I'm really glad because I think they're super cute! (The shirts are from Forever 21.)

Blazers are a staple for your wardrobe; you can wear them no matter what the season is!  Colored blazers are really popular, but neutral is just as popular and it goes with everything!  The blazer is from Forever 21.

Leather

Leather has become really popular.  Whether its shorts, pants, jackets, shoes, or even skirts, they have it in leather!  I think both of these are super cute and they could be worn with tights if they're too short or when it gets cold out.  The skirt is from DKNY and the shorts are from Free People.

Shoes

Moccasins are super comfy and they keep your feet warm.  These are a taupe/tan color, which is really popular for shoes right now.  The moccasins are from American Eagle.

Oxfords are super popular this season; you can get them in leather, leopard, floral, and a ton of other prints!  I think they're super cute, and they're not just your ordinary every day flats.

Loafers (aka penny loafers) are another shoe that is something unique and different than just a regular flat or heel.  Loafers look really good with just jeans and a pretty basic top.  These penny loafers are from American Eagle.

This is a loafer wedge from America Eagle.

Tall, simple boots are everywhere.  They really remind me of riding boots.  Boots are a great investment for fall/winter, especially if it gets cold where you live.  During the winter, I usually wear boots 90% of the time. (The boots are from American Eagle.)

Accessories

Collars are really in.  Not just the ones that come on a shirt, but now you can buy separate collars or necklace collars.  I personally think they're super cute!  Here's a DIY video for collars.  DIY - The Collar Craze        (The collars are from ASOS and the necklace is from Forever 21.)

Brooches are coming back; and I'm not really sure how I feel about that.  Layered necklaces, lots of bangles on your arms, studded bracelets (or anything studded), and chunky rings are also what's in for jewelry.  For you head, woven headbands are popping up everywhere and slouchy beanie hats are back.  Scarves are in this season (as always), I've seen a lot of printed ones, mostly floral.  For purses, small crossbody bags are still in, but bigger bags, like totes, satchels, and big structured handbags are back.  I really like Coach's new handbags; they're simple and very chic. New Arrivals From Coach

More trends...

The colors this season are metallic, mustard yellow, wine, and black & white together.  For patterns, plaid, leopard, tribal, floral, and stripes are what you should look for.  Lace is everywhere; it's on shirts, skirts, dresses, jewelry, and even shoes.

I'm not really showing this dress for any reason. I just think it's super cute!!  Floral is still here for fall and I think this is a super cute dress that you could wear.  The dress is from Lulu's.
What is your favorite fall trend?  Let me know in the comments! Have a great Labor Day weekend everyone! (:
