Facial Fun!

Looking for something fun to do at a sleepover? Want something that will help you relax? Then have a facial! Facial masks are not only fun and relaxing, they're also really good for your skin! Facial masks are an important part of your skin care routine. You should give yourself a facial at least once or twice a month. Facial masks replenish and refresh your skin and they can also help clear acne.

Whether you're having a sleepover or you just want to treat your face solo, here are some easy facial mask recipes that are simple to make, and most of the ingredients you’ll find at home:

The Sweater Dress

Introducing the sweater dress. Classy and cute. Festive for the Christmas season and all winter long. It comes in all colors, knits, designs, patterns, long-sleeved, short-sleeved, ¾ length, scoop neck, cowl neck, turtleneck…how do you know which one to choose?

The first step in choosing is to go with your gut. Which one do YOU like? Try them all on. Which color and neckline looks best on you? You can ask for advice from friends you trust, but in the end, your opinion is the only one that matters, because you’re going to be the one wearing it.

If it’s short-sleeved, wear a plain long-sleeved tee and leggings underneath. This will give it that stylish layered look that’s in for the season, plus you won’t be freezing your arms and legs off in the icy wind. Sweater dresses can be form fitting, so when buying one, think about buying a size (or two) bigger and fasten a fun, colorful belt around your waist for the curved feminine look instead (you can match the belt with your long-sleeved tee).

For a trendy, sophisticated look, pair your sweater dress with a pair of slouchy boots like these:

And all this is only some of the possibilities. Be creative. Be you. Have fun and have a Merry CHRISTmas!

The Good & Bad of '09-'10 Winter Trends

The winter season is upon us, so I thought I’d take some time to discuss the good and the bad of this year’s winter fashion.

Good:

Layering is in. Wear camisoles under tops that scoop low at the neck or like to creep up above your pants and show skin. Wear a short-sleeve over a long-sleeve or under a cardigan. A big thing for this season is a feminized blazer, like in the first photo below.

Flow-y tops are in. This provides us a relief from those curve-hugging tops (although they’re sadly still around).

Boots are in! This has nothing to do with modesty, but I love boots! :)

Purple is in! Again, nothing to do with modesty, but I love the color.

Scarves are in. Dress up your outfit with a colorful one!

Longer dresses are in. As in skirts that reach the knee or below the knee.

Bad:

Very tight tops are also in. Think thermal long-sleeve tees. No matter how big you buy them, they’re still tight.

Tight jeans and pants are still in. If not tight around the legs, they’re tight in the butt.

Animal print fur coats are in. This has nothing to do with modesty, but YUCK! Seriously. Those are dead animals you’re wearing.

Ripped jeans are in. It kind of depends where the rips are if this is bad. If they are high on your leg or in your butt area, this would qualify as a con. Or if they’re more like holes than rips.

Wearing leggings as pants is in. Leggings are not a bad thing, unless of course you wear them in place of your pants. Then it’s almost like you aren’t wearing pants. Check the photo above of the girl wearing the dress in the snow in the “good” section. This is how leggings should be worn, NOT like the girl in the black below on the far right.

See through clothing is in. *Oy* is all I can say. I will not include any pictures (you can thank me later).

Though the dresses are a little longer, one-shoulder straps are in. But hey, I gotta say at least it’s better than no straps.

While styles of the season can be fun, don’t become so obsessed with them that you can’t wear anything that’s not in style. If you like something, wear it and be proud! You can be the innovator of your own style. Remember this verse: “Strength and dignity are her clothing, and she smiles at the future.” (Proverbs 31:25) More importantly than wearing stylish clothes and being pretty on the outside is “clothing” yourself with beauty on the inside.

Come back Thursday to learn about another winter trend, the sweater dress, and how to wear it.

hello lumberjack!

It's pretty obvious to most that I have my own mind when it comes to style. I don't stay in a particular category of style. I'm all over the board. Here lately I've become magnetic to flannel. Simplistic is my thing, really.

Flannel shirt,a black shirt underneath, skinnies, and my favorite boots :]

It's become my favorite outfit in recent months
When I get trendier, I'll let you know ;P

This Season's Trends

This winter's fashions include chunky knits, capes and cloaks, leather, houndstooth, military fashions, and ripped denim. This season's color palette showcases warm, earthy pastels like honey yellow, rose, warm olive, and burnt orange. Here are some winter accessories that are "in" this winter:

Gloves:

Scarves:

Here's a tip for dressing in the latest winter fashions without spending a lot of money. Purchase coats, jackets and sweaters in a classic style and update your wardrobe each winter with trendy accessories.

Kaley

Cute Attack!

Okay, I think I’m having a cute attack. Check out this super adorable skirt! I love it, and would totally wear it!

Christa Taylor: Magdelene Skirt $48.00
I know, a bit pricy, but if I could find a skirt like this at a thrift store for under $30, I’d be all over it.

Here’s what I would complete the outfit with:

Red Camel® Crew Neck Favorite Fit Tee $11.40 from Belk

with this over top…

Forever 21 Angora SS Knit Cardigan $22.90

And dress it up a little…
...with this scarf from Bluenotes $12.50. Scarves are really in for the fall and winter, you can dress up about any outfit with one.

These super cute shoes I SO want from Charlotte Russe:

Floral Beaded Flats $26.99

For hair, you could pull it back and dress it up with these

Forever 21 Faceted Flower Bobby Pins $5.80

Or if you’re feeling bold (this is what I would wear with it) :)

Forever 21 Satin Animal Print Headband $3.80

What would YOU pair with the skirt? Where do you find great deals on super cute and modest outfits?
