Red for the Holidays

Ladies, let’s talk hair color. Whether you’ve been every color from platinum blond to jet black or you’ve never been colored at all (hairdressers call this “virgin hair” =D), the holiday season is a great time to try it out.

With the weather getting colder and the trees changing the color of their leaves to red and orange in time for Thanksgiving and the Christmas decorations of red already being hung, I think it’s a great time to try warm tones in your hair, like reds or oranges. If you don’t like the idea of permanently changing your hair color, you could try a semi-permanent or demi-permanent color, which generally last for about 4-6 weeks and fade out without leaving a line of demarcation when your natural hair starts to grow out from the scalp. Ask your stylist about the hair-coloring options they offer.

Here are some hot colors to consider:

Rich Auburn

This color is great for fall. It’s a reddish-brown like the color of autumn leaves. It works great on ladies with fair skin and pink undertones like Emma Stone.

Nothing reminds me of both autumn and Christmas more than cinnamon! These subtle red highlights look great in deep brunettes with darker skin tones, like Serena Williams.

Strawberry Blonde

Who doesn’t love Amy Adams hair color? This light, soft red is such a beautiful color and a gift if it’s natural, because it’s rare! But for those of us who aren’t blessed with such a gift, this color is all the rage lately and if you’re willing to lighten your hair, this is a nice option instead of the overdone platinum blonde.

Really Red

For the bold, eclectic girl, try a fiery red like Hayley Williams and bring out the rocker in you. Let everyone at the Christmas or New Year's party know you’ve arrived.

Are you trying a new hair color for Thanksgiving or Christmas? Which color would you like to try? Let’s talk!

Whatever Will I Wear At Thanksgiving Dinner?

If your family is anything like mine, there will most likely be a camera at Thanksgiving, this means, pictures will be taken of you stuffing that third roll into your mouth. If that isn't flattering then what is? Your outfit! Who doesn't want their outfit to look great in pictures, even if the picture catches you eating that extra piece of pie? Here are some ideas and tips for your Thanksgiving dinner outfit.

I love (and own) this sweater! It's comfy, cute and goes great with any type of jeans. I suggest buying it in the deep green, seeing as the military colors are in this fall. I suggest wearing this sweater with some nice, brown shoes (either boots or some kind of short, dressy heel), and this necklace.

Product Image Mossimo Supply Co. Juniors Flannel Top - Purple/Grey Plaid
This shirt is very warm and casual. I love plaid! This flannel shirt comes in many different colors, so buy the one that best describes you! It can be worn with any kind of jeans and is best with flats.

Miley Cyrus & Max Azria - Juniors Necklace Tee
I hate to admit it but, Miley does have a cute clothing line and for a nice price. This shirt needs no accessories because it comes with one! This shirt comes in purple, grey and black and is best worn with dark wash jeans or dress pants. Have fun with the shoes!!

Juniors Gathered Bottom Party Dress
Am I the only one to be shocked at finding this dress at Wal-Mart?? It goes a few inches above the knee and be worn with nice, thin pantyhose and heels or boots. It can be paired with silver jewelry and a sweater or jacket of your choice!

I had this article written out a week ago and today, I would like to add this little note. This blog is dedicated to helping young ladies be fashionable, but modest. We are to uphold this because our body is the temple of the living God. I must admit, these past 2 months I have not been as modest as I usually am. I made some mistakes but honestly, I didn't care then. A friend confronted me yesterday and told me that they saw that I was 'slipping'. After looking back at what I had wore, I realized that I wasn't caring like I use too.

Girls, I do not want this to happen to you. Always always ALWAYS remember your values. Learn from my past mistakes. I shamefully regret some of my choices. They were not major major, but still...

Have a lovely Thanksgiving ladies!

You are Fearfully and Wonderfully Made!

"I hate how frizzy my hair is!"

"I can't get rid of this stupid fat!"

"I wish I was more beautiful like her..."

We have all said or heard someone say something like that. With all the pressure from the media these days, girls are almost never happy with themselves. I am guilty of complaining too!

"I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well." Psalm 139:14

Maybe you've heard that verse before and never thought about it or maybe you haven't at all, but it's saying God created you just the way He wanted you to be! There is no one else like you in the world. God created just the way you are, and He loves you with an everlasting love because you are His creation. Your Heavenly Father knit you together in your mothers womb and designed every exquisite detail about you. You are beautiful because you are a princess of the Most High!

"For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother’s womb." Psalm 139:13

If a friend gave you a painting that she had diligently worked on for weeks, yet you didn't think it was that pretty, would you complain to her about how bad it looked? No! Even though you may not care for it, you would graciously except the gift from her with a thankful heart.

It's like your body that God created for you. You are His work of art! And when you complain about how God has made you it's like saying "God, I don't think you made me quite the right way. There must have been a mistake." God doesn't make mistakes.

And of course, there is nothing wrong with trying to loose a few extra pounds or buying anti-frizz spray for your hair. But we have to remember that in our pop-culture that screams, "You have to look just like her to be attractive!", your Heavenly Father lovingly made His princess just the way he wanted her to be. So smile, beautiful girl! And have a blessed day! :)

It's Slipper Time!

There’s almost nothing better to me than coming home from an “oh so stressful" day of school and slipping on my slippers.  I have two pairs, and I absolutely love them both!  I’ve been told that slippers indicate something about a person’s personality, so what do your slippers tell someone about you?  Or what would you like them to say?
Elegant, yet not expensive.
I saw a pair like this for about $10 at Walmart.
I would totally wear these to school, and at my school,
they'd probably pass for classy shoes. ;)

"I'm at the house...and I am LOVIN' it :)"
These would definitely be my super awesome pajama party slippers.
I have a pair like this except they're blue.
Don't wear them outside...they absorb water too well.

"Look at me, I'm stylish"
Ahh, the comfort of the Ugg slippers.
Way out of my price range, but you might be
able to finagle this out of your parents for Christmas.

"My feet are cute and silly...just like me!"
When we were six, we liked to wear bunny slippers.
Well, now you can be sixteen (or twenty six)  and wear
some sort of fun, awesome slipper that represents your funny side.
If you don't have a funny side, then it's time to lighten up and find your inner funny bone.
